DESCRIPTION

Miro's artful homage to women and birds (femmes et oiseaux), Femmes is a crafted presentation of 26 prints by Joan Miro with an introduction of stanzas written by acclaimed author Claude Simon. Text is on pages numbered 9 through 20 (earlier pages are missing). All text is in French. Included are 3 original woodcuts in colour and 23 full-colour offset lithograph reproductions of Miro's canvases. Published in November, 1965 in a limited edition of 50 copies plus 10 copies hors de commerce (ie. for private distribution).

Printed on vellum from the B. Pepin paper mills in Moirans, Isere, All sheets measure 22 x 17.75 in. | 44 x 35.5 cm. All of the 23 offset lithographs have ample white margins, which have been cropped from most of the images presented here. The images vary in size, the largest approx. 18 x 14.75 in. | 36 x 29.5, and the smallest approx. 10.5 x 6.25 in, | 21 x 13 cm. Each is identified on the reverse.
